A cyclic relay or cyclic time relay is used to periodically switch on electrical loads (such as lamps, fans, etc.) or to provide control signals in automatic monitoring or control systems (e.g., to activate an emergency flashing light or an acoustic signal). This cyclic timer can be useful for organizing automatic ventilation processes, opening and closing windows, periodically switching on the heating or ventilation, or illuminating or rotating advertising signs.

If you configure the relay so that its on and off times are symmetrical, you can use it, for example, to gradually turn on certain electrical devices (heaters, heat generators) when current/power limits are exceeded. The presence of a switching output contact allows the cycle to be started either in a pulsed manner or with a pause.
